Hi everybody!

Just wanted to let you all know that the new RocknRoll Animation website and 2012 showreel is now online!
Here at RocknRoll, we use a lot of different animation techniques (2d, 3d, stopmotion etc.), but for most of our 3d stuff, we use Maxwell. On our new website and showreel, only the "Join the Future" and "Studio Ident" are not done in Maxwell.

Go check it out here:

@ eric nixon: Thanks! The Waterlanders test is a combination of miniature work (1/6 scale set) and 3d cg (the old lady).

@tok tok: Thanks! The intro with the snail is completely renderd in maxwell, except for the particles.

This piece must be full cg because of the leaves on the bushes, if it is, thats amazing, esp the water.. great :) If not how did you make those miniature bushes with leaves that float in mid air??

And if you can be bothered, It would be great to know, how you got the video compression to look that good on Vimeo?

You're correct - that commercial is full CG. Obviously, we were going for a stopmotion look, but we decided against actually doing it in stopmotion, because of cost and time constraints.

On the vimeo website there's a whole section about which video format and compression settings to use to get the best results: https://vimeo.com/help/compression

Upgrading to vimeo plus also helps a bit.

The sun bloom effect is Maxwell or post processing?

Nice work!
