here's a rerender of my last project that was rendered using mentalray. Converted everything to maxwell.

render took 15 hrs, sampling level 14.

here's the mentalray version

The Maxwell version is much more convincing imo. Both very nice images but mental ray doesn't handle lighting in quite the godlike way that maxwell does.

yes, surely its a great work
what i dislike is the background, it just doesnt fit the rest of the image, it would be better if you would leave it all black :)
how many bounces u've used ?
cheers

p.s.could you share with us thouse ies lights :)

i didnt use ies lights for the maxwell version, only for the mentalray version.
in the maxwell version, i made use of a sphere with 4 sides then modeled the interior of a luminaire to represent the reflector of the pinlights, applied a silver coating material on the reflector and turned on caustics.

made use of 6 bounces.
yup background doesnt fit. thanks for all your comments

I think the mental ray version looks great, and better than the maxwell render. All the surfaces just seem more vivid and real.

Also, (when you have another 15hrs to burn) maybe render at the same camera angle as the mental ray one. We could really see the differences that way.

Great work!

i prefer the maxwell version, tho overexposed, the lighting is more realistic. nice work :D

@peet79: the women on the picture is yours? I love the picture. I even use it for my mobilephone-background.
