The client wanted a "foam core model" look to the renderings and a color scheme that matched their brochure. I used Maximus's clay contest material, changed it to match a general color for each element, then desaturated it, then added sepia tones. They're very happy. I wish I had been brave enough to try to scale it down to 1:30 scale to make it look even more like a model... maybe next time. These are scaled down from the 5000x2813 renderings I ran. The longest one took 14 hours. Not bad at all. C&C after the fact is welcome. :D

Thanks, I'll update the thread when I get time to try the small scale look.

Rustberg, you changed your location and icon before I could make a comment. I grew up in Houston and the fact that your icon was toilet paper and your location was "see above" made me laugh so hard. As for our weather, when I get a chance to be outside the office during daylight hours I'll let you know.

misterasset,

yes, there are definately some places in houston that require more toilet paper than others. i grew up in brownsville, (handfull of german blondes stood out like a sore thumb) so i've been carrying around the t.p. for quite some while now. my wife and i are currently buying a house on heights blvd. have inspection thrusday. it should be a typicall heights inspection report; termites, foundation, old electric. so it looks like we will be here for a little while longer.

That's seems to be the most ridiculous treat of Maxwell. Use a render that's capable of producing renders that looks like photos - and you build models with it.... :D

Looks like some architect saved some time.... "oops, I've forgotten the model, but i have some photos of it with me." .... :)

Yeah, it does seem like a weird use, but the light distribution of Maxwell is unbeatable, and that's what I was looking for.
