The lighting could be better accentuated. It's a bit flat now. You've got just a emitter-plane left behind the camera and a skydome, right?
I would place some long vertical planes (softboxes) that reflect at the edges of the object giving it "highlights".
The right object on the second pic looks like it's floating. Does it?

shredders look good. edges and fillets look clear. maybe more exposure is needed.

bit of roughness can make the materials look more real. And some envrionment. and some angle adjustments to get the max.

what are the rendering times like?

I'm using three emmitter's verying in intensity....no sky dome...yes one of the shredders is floating.... my mistake...thanks for the input

I see. Maybe it would be helpful to reduce the size of the emitters and reposition them a bit to give the structures at the sides more contrast...?
By the way: neat modeling

let it render for another 245 hours tho... there is noise...

also, if you designed the shredders you might wanna think about the paper input slots. Ever tried to feed 5 sheets of paper through a .75 inch slot? some form of indented 'funnel' would be a good change... but hey, if it's not your design... just ignore me.

Sometimes just by adding a matt white planel to reflect into the sides can help. This will also add a little fill light to help the flat look.

Think about a single light source in a black void compared to that same light in a white room. In the white room there is alot more light bouncing off the walls.

I'm glad this worked out. I had just done the same thing to one of my lifeless renderings.

Working at LDA (was Lum design associates) is great. A lot of preasure to come up with cool stuff on every project month after month. But that's the world of ID.
