hey nico, youre renderings are really great, but why isn't this gallery in the gallery section? - I've missed a few updates because I often visit the gallery section, but not always the "maxwell render"-section.

cheers

Awesome stuff Curt. How long have you been using Rhino?

Hey Noah, I've been using Rhino since Rhino2 so that's about six years now.

Hmmm, I also see that I missed trofaster's post, sorry trofaster
It is because I made my gallery before there was a gallery section

Hi guys, thanks! is it the composition or is it something else that make other versions stand out?
About the scale, it's maybe the lack of reference that makes them look like models.

Anyway, here is another one ;-) I hope this one looks better :-)

Oh, sorry. It's the other "top secret" version that I was referring to...

As far as the scale is concerned, if it's going to remain a studio shot, maybe it needs some kind of props for scale reference. But I would really like to see these with an environment, modelled or hdri.

The composition of the first shot is better ... in the second version the lighting is a bit crisper.
But after all a great image!

Btw, Kami, I was wondering, I was looking at an image on your website and I thought I saw the Materhorn in the background, is that here in the screenshot below? I tought I recognized the exact place :)

That's part of it, but I think it's a few other more key things. There is a lack of subtle detail in the materials and in the lights that make it feel small scale and a bit unnatural. i.e no break up in the highlights you get from undulations in car laquers, gradient highlights are a bit even for real sized lightboxes, too much fill under wheel wells. Also you don't see any undercarriage components and shocks/struts etc, and the interior is a bit simplified too.

These are not major crits of the work, but they are factors that make it look like a good and realistic render of a model, and not a full size auto.
Just my POV :)
