Check first post for update 8)

And yes, I know, it's the C64 version of the mouse's connector, not the Amiga 1000 one, but that's the only reference I have in front of me at this time.

yeah metin, we're the luckiest generation ever! coz we had a real comp (amiga) and we had a real music (rock)...
thank you ricstwi,
better and better... can you dare for one more wish :) hehe
now imagine the angle between mouse's equator and the roof-top, there must be more angle between them. button level is ok, i mean the back part must be a little more above... and the total length of the mouse is still more than its original, maybe just fixing the length will overcome that angle problem.

p.s:ribstwi will kill me...hehehe

King Tut, the immortal Deluxe Paint image. If more nostalgia will pass by I'll have to cry. :)

I even remember who pixeled it: Avril Harrison, one of the first great Amiga artists. An other famous Amiga maestro was James "Jim" D. Sachs. He did the graphics for the great Defender of the Crown game.

Anyone remember his Porsche image...?

Folks, that Deluxe Paint image was in my dreams for years...it's curious to see that there are no Spectrum, MSX or Amstrad posts here.

I grew with a C64.

And to think that the Amiga could not display more than 32 colors at once (5 bitplanes) in low resolution and not more than 16 colors in high-res. It was often a nightmare to combine two pictures in DPaint (remapping colors properly was hell).

Ok, there was the HAM mode (Hold-And-Modify), but it was crappy. Kind of like JPG quality.

The AGA Amigas changed this in the early 90s, but still not more than 256 colors at once, next to the new HAM8, which was still crappy.

Anyone remember PPaint (Personal Paint)? It was a quite nice companion to DPaint.

And does anyone happen to remember my own games: Venomwing, Hoi, Clockwiser, Cognition and Moon Child? :) Hoi and Clockwiser were quite a commercial success in those days, beside the fact that our team was totally ripped by the publishers (see http://www.metinseven.com/article_hoisaga.htm). Also check out the downloads at the bottom of that page.

We also created two music editors: SIDmon and the Digital Mugician. Anyone happen to know (one of) those? :)

Cheers,

Man, that image of King Tut brings back memories - i wish i had kept my A3000 and A500 around for nostalgia's sake. Still have my Atari 1040ST with "Degas Elite" and "CAD 3D"

The world was so much more exciting back then...

But HAM was a revolutionary trick with using copper. (hehe this ain't maxwell copper)
You know HAM6 can display 4096 colors with 5+1 bitplanes.
You can also use 5+1 bitplanes to have EHB (Extra Half-Bright) 64 colors
And HAM8 (with AGA) can do it 262.144 colors then...
HAM modes were crappy because you can't define every pixel's color independently.
Like it's name :D You first HOLD... AND then you MODIFY the next pixel's color.
The dependency between pixels make it crappy.
However it's thousands of colors with a few bitplanes anyway.
This was a nice trick implemented with hardware.

Degas Elite, yeah I remember that, as well as the Aegis line of professional software. Aegis Audiomaster was great. Much like today's CoolEdit Pro / Audition.

I've still got my A1000 and my A1200. I gave my A4000 away to a few friends of mine who are still very Amiga-minded. Check out their site, created on an Amiga...!

HAM was a nice gimmick, but mainly useful for things like digitized imagery, not for smoothly running games. Games like the Shadow of the Beast series, Leander and Lionheart depended heavily on the use of bitplane combinations (such as the "dual playfield" approach: 2 x 4 bitplanes) to create smooth parallax scrolling effects. I've created Amiga games for ten years and although I was mainly creating graphics I have my fair amount of Amiga hard- and software knowledge.

Do you remember a smart trick that Newtek invented: "Dynamic Hires"? It showed 256 greyscale values in high-res at once, on a standard Amiga (if I remember that right). There was this totally stunning and clear digitized photo of an old-timer that showed off the technique.

I was mostly coding intros and full disk demos and still i have them at home...hehe
I made a few games (including a level editor) too :D and I can find them with the sources.
Once coded a bit-based encrypting tool also, it was done in AMOS and was so slow, later i replaced the encrypting routine with an assembler one and merged into the main application. Worked fine :)
In future, i'm planning to publish them on my personal site.
Then you will have chance to peek them with winUAE ;)
