This is the last image for this series. I think I got the floor and the screen behind the louvers the way I want them. I noticed that the fabric on the chair is a little messed up, and I tried to fix it.

I like the 1.1 render. It has great mood to it. How did you find the rendertime etc compared to the 1.0 images.

Thanks Eric and 4Hero. As for render times, I didn't let this one run as long as the other. And 1 SL can make a big difference. But I think it's about the same for a scene like this. The main things I'm happy with in 1.1 is bettter bump mapping and specular control.

I noticed that the MXI emitter I used for the background was much more saturated. It just occurred to me (right this minute) that I should take the source image back through the mxcl viewer and save it out again. I don't know if anyone noticed the insect screen in the previous version, but it never showed up for this version.

Yes the new one's a really nice job Fran, and 17hrs seems almost cheeta-like.

Concerning your first picture (the "salon") and the stone wall which lack of displacement, I just find a very good free tool for rhino. Take a look at: http://www.reconstructivism.net/ then click on Programming, Rhino dotNet and then Displacement. I just try it and it's really great except that the meshing should be very precise.
