someone has asked to me abuout water...

there are 2 solution:


A) to model the surface accurately (more accurately) and activate abbe option. The time solution is high

B) gerets-caustic method (fast method)


Gerets- caustics method

1) I have created a plane parallel (1cm) to the bottom of the swimming pool

2) I Used clip map with this textures:

3) I used mxm "acquagerets" : ( if you want it is possible to add 1 or 2
coating layers)

4) for the water you can be used a plane or one solid (box)

5) if you want to create other caustics solutions :

A cool quick thing I just figured out is that you can add an emitter to your clipped caustics material for a slightly brighter more glowing effect on the bottom of the pool or whatever it is you're using it for.


I do have a question regarding making a clean clipmap out of the caustics images produced with that program. How d oyou do this? I'm getting nasty black lines and the caustics look black not white like they should be.

X motopiku: al solito sei molto gentile...ed esagerato!!! in realtà la scena l'ho modellata nei ritagli di tempo e nel fine settimana...più che altro ho perso tempo a provare le caustiche e a trovare un giusto setting per l'acqua. Spero di avere il tempo di fare una bella vista completa con piscina in primo piano.

X giacob: I am trying also the real technique, with to other friends in the forum of maxwellrender.it, in the topic"water" ...but now the fake technique is better for me.

X Hyperballad:I am trying what you ask ... I hope to succeed to having that effect . With caustic generator you can make one textures white and black ...with photoshop you can make the textures darker for to improve the transparency.

Gianni, sorry to bug you about this, but just how do you get these images so sharp and beautiful?

I struggle to use the camera and scene scale in Maxwell effectively!

You gave me the camera and date settings before, but I must be missing something. My attempts tend to be either bleached, blurred or both!

You are the master at this!
