Yes, but also be realistic about your work and accept it when someone tries to tell you that it could be improved in some ways.

It's a handicap if nothing is ever good enough. But is also a handicap when you can't agnolidge your own flaws.

You are right, and I did learn a lot from the feedback in this thread.
I'm a super perfectionist, but as everyone else, I'm not perfect.
When I've done something I think it great, people in general usually agree. I this case most didn't, and I now fully understand.

First there was the Jpeg issue with Mac OSX, and second of all every one has different displays.
This post is written from a friends computer, and my rendering looks absolutely rubbish on his display, I'd even say this rendering sucks.

I've seen this on several computers now, and basically the rendering only looks really great on my own display... I should probably look into getting it fully calibrated..

It's good when we learn new things :D

Neeper,

The succinct reply i gave was primarily in response to the inappropriate response you made to TOK TOK; that was almost like a challenge which is daft really.
Remember this is not a competition arena, its a forum for exchanging clear and objective views on maxwell work - and you can benefit from hearing views of people who have extensive experience in the field so in many ways this is your advantage.

The images posted are not really articulated renderings as such but more a nice model with a material applied and light(s) added - you may have spent more time on the logo then the rendering in truth. Maintaining focus and clearly identifying hurdles on any project is in my view one of the most important skills in visualisation. Wandering off on tangents is all too easy you see :-)

For these reasons i strongly suggest you establish a pipeline when doing something and base this on a set of clear goals/objectives. You could for example say to yourself ' i want to make a pseudo advert for a gold car - but to make it super slick, and james-bond like - possibly comp in a sexy girl, and work on a textured studio background. Then work in a series of layers - get your material right first, then lighting, then composition and so on..... take a look at Danial Simons work on fantasy vehicles - its a good starting point to understanding some of these objectives - http://www.cosmic-motors.com/

interestingly the hardest thing in 3d is keeping it simple and MAINTAINING focus - this is the key, as complexity is always around the corner.

now, get something cool up there!

good luck!
