Great job on all images! But, I have to talk about a serious flaw in material design. Some of your specular BSDF uses extremely high Nd and/or reflectance than a real shiny topcoat could ever have and it makes these scream "We are CG!". This unrealistic look is clearly visible on the helmets and the car.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your comments and taking the time to analyze my images.

The helmet and vehicle both use materials from 'Carpaints ii', nothing more really.

One of the main reason for these images is not to be 100% photoreal, but to showcase the CAD/NURBS surface modeling of the industrial design studio I worked for.

What would you recommend ?

Cheers,
Francis.

Seriously, this is not the case so, don't worry...

That's the main problem. Some of these materials are ancient and have been built in early stages of development. They are correct but not always realistic. For example, this carpaint has a mirror-like coating layer with high reflectance and nd. I suggest you not to use coatings but traditional additive plastic approach with mild reflectance and fresnel in the clearcoats. You will quickly spot the difference... ;)
