Many thanks guys, really appreciated.
Of course there is always something to improve and I agree with you tom about the kitchenware, I'll redo some materials for the upcoming highres version for you viewing pleasure. :)
@ Hervé : The bit with the "putzfrau" was awesome, especially mixed with english and stuff. We had a good laugh here at the office because of that. :)
Expect to see more and more renders fromout the Pure laboratory's.

Regards,

Benjamin

Well, I try my very best. :)

The bit wth the bump map on the brick was a little weird since MXW just won't export the bumpvalue for this specific material while it did for everything else... Guess I' have to model it then.

Oh strange, do you mean the bump for brick texture doesn't work?

correct. It was a simple jpg, nothing special. I didn't try it with another brickmap because I was in a hurry, but in general the map did not produce any visible bump at all.
I'll look into it some time soon.

Hey Tora,

Please forgive the silly question, but how do you get your wireframes to look like that, i.e. all the objects are gray, with highlights, and wireframes. I'm assuming you use 3ds max, and when I click on all of the viewport options (Smooth + Highlights, Facets + Highlights, Wireframe, etc), my scene does not look anything like that. Is this some plugin or something?

thanks

Lovely work there Tora - I especially like the semi-opaque window blinds (what method did you use by the way?)

With the brick bump map, check to be sure it's RGB instead of greyscale - that always messes me up....

@deesee: That is very easy, you won't need any plugins for that. I work in 3ds max but I know for sure that it'll be quite the same in Maya or XSI for example. I just apply a standard blinn material to all objects, then change viewport mode to smooth+highlights and hit F4 for wireframe over shaded objects. Then just take a screenshot and thats all. Oh, and change all objects wireframe color to black of course.

@michaelplogue: It actually was a RGB map since I generated the bump map from the very same diffuse map.
The blinds have been rather easy too. I had to ditch my intention to do it all the "physical" way, since the result would not have justified the jump in rendertimes. Thats why it is only an altered alphamap wih a blured portion of the background image in that area. Same effect, no rendertime+ customizeable in postprocessing.

Tora great work... the images and modeling are fantastic...
Design wise i have some questions.... how does this kitchen top works, does it have some secret fixings on the timber legs of metalic box under the sink? I would have thought this gives the impression the all thing is mobile and since you will need wiring as well as plumbing then it requires something to restrain it to the floor.

great sense of space tora. i have the urge to step inside your renders whenever i see them. they always seem delicate and fresh, almost like they have a sense of smell to them. very succesful indeed.
