Thanks everyone!

The render really was just a test to see how v1 would handle the model and a chance to play with the new v1 material settings. The "funny intenstinal looking shapes" (wave guides) are still too glossy and there are some texture maps and bump maps that I didn't have time to track down for the M~R materials. I don't know if I will spend any more time on it.

I did a couple of animations and stills with the model a couple years ago for TV and web use. I think some badly scaled (adding some nasty anti-aliasing) versions are still on the B*** web site. BTW, the model is actually a simplified version of the product...

greg...
that is a stunnly detailed object... how long did that take you? Did you model it in max? The render is nice, but the object steals the show.

I think I worked on the project for about a month and a half. I don't remember how much time was spent on that model. It was modeled in Rhino and rendered in max. These days I wouldn't attempt to model something like that with max's nurbs (or polygons) although I have in the past. On this project I had cad files for some of the parts to start with while other parts were modeled from scratch (the speakers for example) and others were a bit of both. I wish I could give you better details but I have worked on a LOT of these and they all start to blend together after awhile
