There is a very nice script for Rhino called Harmony that does controlled displacement, rotation, scaling, and jitter of objects all from one refrence surface.

The background is white plastic with roughness of .4.

The scene is lit by various types of emeters in the parabolic reflectors, D65 for the main light at 100W and all other emitters are either A or C for warm highlights between 20 and 35W. The lights are shown onto white diffuse panels with an absorbance of .4 and scatter of .8.
