Hi & welcome.

I think it looks great for being your first render. The wood-teexture needs some work, but over all, good. Maybe it need to cook a bit longer.

I'd also increase the brightness and maybe add a more diverse reflection environment. The object itself is very nice!

p.s. One cool name you got there :)

Thanks for the complements/feedback.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "better woodtexture", I thought it was pretty good... but I could be wrong, what would you improve about it?

I agree that the reflection environment could be more diverse, I'll try that next time (I've yet to play with the Skydome etc).

BTW : The object is from the tattoo I have on my left arm, and is my own interpretation of Celtic and Maori sybols for life.

PS. Thanks about the name, I didn't have a choice but it's a good name to have.

There is something in the texture showing big squares that ressemble pixelation, it's quite disturbing and it's strong right above your name.

Ah, I see it now, I was thinking that may have been a bad reflection or not enough time for the image to 'cook'.

But on looking at my texture files, they are quite small and would probably cause that pixellation.

Thanks guys....

Spencer, ....Welcome.

Ditch the textures. Make a white diffuse and apply it to everything.

Break out sky dome, sunlight, emitters and practice. Create common scenarios and setups.

I said ditch the textures for now, ....because it's best you focus on determining how maxwell handles light. That's what this is all about anyhow.

Photo-renders begin here ........ :)
