First of all Maxwell doesn't support lights afaik, use an object (plane) and then attach an emitter to it. Second get RC3 because RC1 is not working right.

Did it render the image? I get that sometimes but still have the rendered image so I never worried about the error message.

Use "custom" for the emitter, avoid the presets.
