I'm running Maya 6.5. Do I need to upgrade to 7 for the Maxwell RC and Maxwell 1.0?

The upcoming Maxwells are standalone products, not plugins, as they are now, yes?

So it shouldn't matter whether I run Maya 6.5 or 7?

I think it's just fine with Maya 6.5.... and I hope so, because i have also 6.5 and don't want to upgrade for now.
I've got this answer before i purchased maxwell:

"We have plans to support the Maya 6.5 until Maya 8.5 comes out."
