WOW, the new mayall rocks, you can finally use the connection editor to connect your maps to your shader attributes, and thus meaning one can now have a MEL script that changes your maya shaders into maxwell shaders) and the Maxwell Shader attributes are available to all MEl operations now!

AND WOW, OPACITY MAPPS!..... the Clippmap hase a clip threashold from 0to2555 clipp range, thus acting like a opacity map (in extra attributes there is now an OPACITY attributes)--note-currently (july1)MXdiffuse shaders render BLACK if there is ANY clippmap applied (as the maxwell notes say) but this is a AWSOME attribute function to look foward too!

& ANIMATION EXPORT MXS Scene NOW WORKS!!

NOT YET, BUT YES!!! it it looking like you will bew able to use those native maya shaders too maybee,, BUT you can DEFINATLY use your "FILE" node in hypershade as a texture now

YOU CAN SEE Diffuse adn PLASTIC SHADER in your MAYA UI!!!!!
thats right TURNING ON "Hardware SHADING" in your texture window menu wil let you see the COLOR maps on your geometry in the maya VIEWPORT
