I thin still all new realeases are not backwards compatible.
Write down your shaders/settings and apply a lambert to all your geometry and export that geometry into a new Maxwell scene.
Create your shaders and input your values. Dint take me long since i was careful to write all my settings down for each shader and what it was assigned too. none pf my 8.2 stuff worked in 8.4. But after reassigning my shader all works well.
