This might be because of missing or outdated Microsoft DLLs. Please try installing this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en . If you're missing this package you shouldn't be able to run other Maxwell components (Studio, mxcl) either, but the ways of the Microsoft are many...
