DUDE!

I get this same problem, Im NOT sure is Maxwell related though!
to make sure, when you assign a textur >4k the viewport shows up black right, but if you resize the texture to <4k, like 3096 then it shows up fine?

Its very weird, I think it has something to do with texture memory, or allocated system resource memory, this is odd, since i have 3gigs of ram, and 256 memory on my nvidia quadro 1000 card..

Whats really weird, is that I have maxwell scenes that have 4092 maps in them, and Sometimes it will load the maps fine, while other time it WONT!

arrg! it really makes me mad, becuase when i have the scene on another computer, the 4k texture ALWAYS shows up and that computer has a video card with 128 memory and only 2gigs ram!!!

and its not with maxwell scenes either, I dont have maxwell on autoload, so when i work in maya on normal maya scens i get the same problem, but like I said its not consistent some days it will show the 4096 texture other days I have to reduce the texture to 3092... very annoying..

if i find a fix ill let you know..
