Can someone explain how to export a rendered image? I know how to do the previews but how do you render out to a file?

What is the difference from the render preview option and rendering to a file? I don’t think this has been properly explained anywhere and am a bit confused.

I read that the scene file has to be exported before being render, but why is there a quick link for the render preview?

Help on this would be much appreciated.

With the last plugin release, you'll see that for images is the same than with Maya renderer or mentalray (Render Globals-Common-Image File Output) .

...and everytime you do a render preview (..now "Render current frame") it exports a .mxs file as well, so if you do a render preview you get image+.mxs file.

You can also just export an .mxs file to render from a command line (Export scene)
