No, the plugin is currently version 7 - 8.0. Give them a chance to update the plugin to 8.5, and when they do you will be a happy man.

Btw, its the same for PC users, so its not just because you are a mac user (like me). The API for maya 8.5 has had quite a few changes/upgrades so let NL get a chance to upgrade.

Maya plug-ins only work with the version they've been built for. Try loading any 8.0 plug-in in 8.5 and you'll notice it doesn't work (the platform doesn't matter, it's the same on OSX, Windows, Linux and it was like that on IRIX too). We are preparing to release an update to support Maya 8.5 but I can't give you an ETA yet. As you said, 8.5 is very new so I'd be surprised if you found many plug-in vendors that have already released updates to their products to support this version.

i hope autodesk settles down the plugin api for a while. its ridiculous how fast the 8.5 release came. and now even the maya8 plugins dont work anymore? not a nice move for the plugin industry. at least they could have tried to keep some compatibility.
