adding "-ml" in the comand lin in preview or engine tabs wroks only if you have more than one type of emmiter in the scene..

-ml is working for me fine in maya 7.
the only thing that it recognises the hdr illuminate and sky as the same emiter-

and you must have at least two emmiter in the scene..physky conts as one....although if it works for you in studio than you knw it needs two emmiters...

The only other time i ran into problems is when I had saved and opened the file the cmd line field was empty/or change cmd line entry.... solution to "RESET" this - i had to add some random letters into the field example: "xxx" and then hit render.. you should get an: "mxcl comand not found" window pop up and your render will get neglected.. then go in and delete the "xxx" from the cmd line and enter: -ml

(works in preview or reg)

let me know if you dont get it working
this may be weird but i had problems with maya plugin/mxcl after i installed maxwell and went into maya without reseting the computer.. after i reset it worked alot better... im sure you probably had rebooted by now -but it helped some things for me..

Thanks for the time spent on this problem. I'm not sure everything is right in this matter tho.

I've tried your tricks with one bad outcome though :/ It's not working

I created a scene from scratch.
Created 3 primitive emitters each and everyone with individual emitters set to 100.
Typed –ml in the command line and pressed render.
Everything loads and the scene starts to render out the 3 emitters just right, but the multilight option is no where to be seen.

I also tried –xxx in the command line but the same thing occurred = nothing. Not even a error message, the process acting like the command line is dead…

All I have to say is that it's working just fine at the time beeing and thats pretty much it

Thank's for the effort you'd put on this matter though
