I have recently took same photos of leafs. I have used soft box to back light them.
Here is the fist one, maple.
More to come soon. I want to make some good arch viz leafs.

These leaves look great... They will be even better if you consider overspraying the edges of color maps.

You don't really need that. Good old layer mask is already doing the job nicely...
