very cool! looks like corian! 8) the color fits ...but maybe a bit too translucent and too regular for "antarctica"

...atm. for me it's more looking like "Ice White"

You're right, I'll take the tranlucency down a notch. However, I have a real piece right here, and when I hold it up to the light one can see that it does have some SSS in there. However, not as much as in that render though..

yes, i have them here too  that was my reference.
the fotos above look slighty different to the real thing... and as i said, it already looks very good to me!

Ah, I see :) thanks! Here is an updated version with only 15% SSS component impact. (The first one had 30%)

It has to cook some more though, but I'll update it as it progress... Thanks for your feedback!

looks great , but it's more snowy than antarctica.
antarctica got bigger chunks.

I'm not sure.. The piece I have got is 10x10cm, and is called Antarctica (F). I've used it for the scan, and as a matter of fact - the test render above has got about three times as BIG chunks than my test piece calls for.

This is the scan of the 10cm test piece:

Thanks Mihai.

Some constrast is not a bad idea at all. This is a photoshopped version of the render with constrast added:

Zoopy, I think you're right.. I have been using real scale within maxwell studio without having the appropriate projectors set up, which didn't give me any "real scale" at all. The flakes should be larger relative to the scene they're in.

Here's an update with a bit more proper flake-size and adjusted constrast aswell:

Thanks

You're getting there. ;)

I think so too!

Latest update: I've taken down the roughness a bit, to give a more defined highlight and the look of a "harder" material.
