Apart from the problems we have, browsing the 1500 materials (Max crashes) the important issue is the misc languages used.
I think that nobody in England would appreciate a material called "TOYBLO" (means brick in Greek). It's the same for me. I can't understand italian , so it is not easy to know and remember what all these names mean.
Solutions...
1. NL should make the use of English as a rule for posting material
2. NL should keep 4-5 libraries of translated materials.
3. The users should upload the materials using both english and their native language.

I think this will be better for us all.

Thanks for the feedback.

We're doing some revising with new materials, translating and adding keywords if they don't have enough description. But we've got old materials that remain unchanged.

Also, we have just included english language in the "How to" section, like you suggested.

Cheers,

Hi Beatriz,

a small problem in naming the materials is that the parenthesis are actually not allowed in material name. Without this limitation could be simpler to use a double name, for example "Toyblo (Bricks)", leaving to the author the possibility to express himself in is own language if needed, plus the English name between parenthesis.

P.S.
Ciao!

Hi!

you can name yourm aterial in both languages, that's fine and put a different symbol in between if parenthesis are not allowed: Ladrillo - Brick

This could be expandable to all maps of materials, using all the same "rules". This would be very useful for people that have all mxm files subdivided in folders fullfilled of similar materials (e.g: i have a "concrete folder" where i can find with 'mxed material browser' all concrete mxm)

so....
Mattone - Brik °Luca_Studioaltieri°.mxm
Mattone - Brik °Luca_Studioaltieri° -- diffuse.mxm
Mattone - Brik °Luca_Studioaltieri° -- weight.mxm
Mattone - Brik °Luca_Studioaltieri° -- bump.mxm
Mattone - Brik °Luca_Studioaltieri° -- normal.mxm

...and so on..

we will also have our folder automatically ordered, and no texture with same filename.
i think this organized way will help both parts, and is not so haevy for who create mxm materials.

ops... i edited, writing ° instead of ( ).. btw using any kind of char to separate author name.
