Please comment the material, is good is bad. Can you rate this material ?

i have downloaded your water material from mxm gallery, i rated 8 for it, althought it looked nicer on a simple test i did than in your images here.

I think the rate of the materials in MXMgallery is very strange, because i think is a good material, the results i get with it was very grateful for the work... and the rate was 6 at the moment is 6.15 -> what is very mediocre

I think the rate, defines if the material is good or not, but who votes don´t try the material just see the image and vote... i think is not a correct way to define the qualities of the materials.

I'm totally agree with that. It's why I have stoped to rate the material since a long time. Even if i have the possibility to try some, I don't rate them anymore...maybe i will do it when the webmaster will integrated some comment function who let the user explain his vote. For the moment, this rating system is really absurd.
I also think this system is not very good for the sharing process. Let me explain. I could share few more materials that i find quiet good. But I'm alsmost sure that the rate will be very low, just because the material looks too simple. So I prefere to not put them in the library. I think, I'm not the only one in this position.
And also, who can control a user to create 10 account and rate his own material?

...what I don't understand is why make a material competition or something like that, I think the point should be to make a big database where you can have a reference for your own materials, and forget about ratings.

For me it is not about how my materials are rated, Im happy that I have somewhere central that I'm able to share them...

I stopped uploading materials aswell since all my materials are rated under 4.
I know my materials were not a revolution in 3D world but less than 4, its a pitty. But still each of them was downloaded hundreds of times already.
Why should I waste my time preparing and uploading files that are so bad...

don´t stop uploading materials, even if they are not perfect, you get a very good glimpse how people set up their materials!

for example, if some does the best metal ever and you excatly know how it is done then give it high rating and leave it as it is!

if you set up a very difficult material with loads of layers coatings, weightmap etc, is it always much more useful for me, cause I can look up how it is done and learn from it, even if the material doesnt look good!

so just keep posting and don´t worry about ratings!

I did not post materials to become the "famous guy who created this incredible material" but low ratings make you feel like it's a waste of time for you to upload and for others to download.
It would be better not to have ratings...If you like a material, download it, otherwise don't...that's it...

What do you guys think of adding an arbitrary image to each material, besides the test scene image? So a user should add the default image and if they want, they could upload an additional image showing how it worked in their particular scene. The link to the image could be right under the test scene image so it doesn't take up too much space on the page.
