I have downloaded a number of materials of all types, then unzipped the zipped ones, and saved them all in a folder I called Maxwell Materials. Now when I assign any nice textured material other than simple materials in Sketchup 5 Pro it will not render because it cannot find the maps, I think.
Should I sort all the maps into seperate folders according to file type or keep them in the folder for each material? I think I have the maps but Maxwell Can't find them even when I try to show it to the folder.
Is there a tutorial or Forum that explains what I am supposed to do with the materials and their files once I download them so I can use them?
Thanks

The materials that you download do not work immediately. Although a lot of people are complaining about this problem, IMO there is no chance to prevent this. It has to do with path issues, because everybody saves textures somewhere else on the computer. There is no such thing like a standard path.

So, in order to use the downloaded materials : Save them wherever you want. I have a special folder within my network wide "maxwell drive" that is called Library Materials. There they are stored in subfolders. BUT : When you download one : Open it in the material editor and check the texture paths and point the path to where you extracted the material and maps (BTW : I always keep textures and the materials in one folder....) and SAVE the material afterwards. Then the material has the correct path on your machine/network and should render correctly.

Hopefully Maxwell will include better path handling in the next updates, like general texture path management and the like.
