Dear Nextlimit,

could you please ensure that the pictures of the materials have the same names as the material download files!? Thanks.

That would make it much easier to have a preview of the material without having to rename all the files during the download.

So if the material download is "materialSuperFine_0815.xxx" could the picture showing the material render also be called "materialSuperFine_0815.jpg" ?

That would be great to use it as preview in a material folder.

Thanks again,
macray

I'm not sure that it should be up to Next Limit to make sure the file names are right, I think it should be up to the people uploading the files.

But I would also like to add a request that the texture map file names also start with the same name as the MXM and end with what the map is for (which map slot it goes into). For example: a texture named 'glass_satin.mxm' could have a normal map named 'glass_satin_NOR.jpg' or something similar.

This way we don't end up with a bunch of multiple texture maps named '001.tif', 'bump.jpg' or 'happy.tga'. Have the texture file name make sense, and obvious for which MXM it goes with.

Also - JPEG files that end in .jpeg are not recognized by the MXED in OSX, only ones that end in .jpg. (Please follow the 'dot three' naming). And as noted in other threads - in OSX at least, TIFFs crash the MXED when you click on the mapping button.

I'm not sure how everyone else is organizing their downloaded MXM's and textures - but based on the way the past Maxwell updates have happened, we will have to sort through and find which MXM"s and textures were not included with the installation at the next update. Let's keep it clean.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tim
