Hi.

I hope, this is the right place for my question.

Can s.o. tell if these artfefacts in the clouds-material is a result of the map resolution? Will a higher map_res avoid these artefacts?

(Btw: Thanks a lot for the clouds-material... provided by tom on the mxm-gallery site.)

Thank you.

I would suggest turning off the bump completely, first.

I first tried out toms advice, it seemed the easiest way ;). So I turned off the bump completely.

This solved the problem - at least half of it. When compared, you see that the squares are gone but the "dark areas" remain the same...

Maybe SunlightRockers link-tip will provide a solution... what did it say... "jagged shadows"?... I'll have a look for that.

Thanks you for your help.

Let's see some photo references...

Since this is not a volumetric scattering material, you shouldn't expect it brighten up the edges of the clouds. ;)

Hi Tom.

Nice sunsets... feels like holidays again... hehe.

Kind of misunderstanding going on I guess... I was not expecting the material to brighten up the edges... what I was asking was the hard edges within the clouds. Most parts of the material show softness and smoothness, like the texture you used in the transmittance slot. But at 2 or 3 parts there are some kind of unexpected hard edges... the texture map used in transmittance slot doesn't show these... That is what I was and still am wondering about.

I also looked at the link, SunlightRocker posted. But unfortunatly it seems, that there is an unsolved problem with jagged shadows... but I'm not sure if my problem belongs to the "jagged shadows"-problem at all.

No, the problem obviously can't be related top jagged shadows. However, now I see what you mean but I don't have any idea about those dark sections.
