I just yesterday finished my new ZBrush video series and during doing it I had the oportunity to think a little bit into the future -- This is a test render (minor post) for a skin formula. The sculpt is supposed to be Wolverine and I will be using this as a test object for the new Hair and Fur capabilities when Maxwell 2.6 comes out :D

While I'm waiting I'll work on everything that will not be covered with hairs.

Best,
Jason.

I'd say his wrist are too big or hands too small and his neck looks like it could use a massage to get more relaxed...

Nice model. Looking forward to see it become a werewolf. :)

I get that alot on this one -- but that was intentional... the character is a mutant who has long claws that pop out of the back of his hands. Normal wrists would not allow for blades to pass through without some modification to the anatomy (bigger forearms/wrists).

Likewise his primary weapon is the claws and he is regularly featured cutting through metal objects (with supposedly no super-strength) -- so I envisioned his arms, shoulders, neck and pectorals would have to be heavily over-developed.

This is my big problem, I over-think things and nobody gets what I'm trying for... it's one of the many reasons I gave up on illustration after such a long time. I'm too bombastic for some work and not enough for others -- not to mention too caught up on making things make sense (which doesn't work for super-hero's). :?

It's a hard situation for me because on the one hand if everybody sees it as wrong is should be fixed -- but the problem isn't with my knowledge of anatomy... it's my faulty "taste" and imagination, which should supposedly be unique and visionary (but unique isn't always understood or even liked).

Best,
Jason.

yep ;) I think this is waste of great idea ;)

BTW ... I read somewhere gorillas have very tiny YOU KNOW WHAT ... so adamantium one could be just too big shock for SOMEONE ...

but cut this jokes ... this chracter looks great ... keep it detailing please

I think the sculpt and skin looks great!
And as a big Wolverine-fan ( never liked any of the other sissy-always-good marvel-heroes  ) I've spent way to much time thinking about how thoose adamantium claws would work in real life... and I think you are right about the muscle proportions.
The comics and movies doesn't really explain it in a good way and sometimes even change where the claws actually emerge..like top of hand or between fingers, either way, it's good that he has fast healing since muscles and tendons must be seriously damaged every time he *SNIKT*

Looking foward to see this mutant evolve :D

+1 on Punisher and Dexter... forgot about them, and since we slided off the Marvel track with Dexter.... Lobo !
HalfLife's excellent Wolverine sculpt could be used for Lobo too...rather similar hairstyles...just add facepaint

yes ;) but Lobo kills everyone ;) when Punisher , Dexter, and Wolverine at least try to kill those bad guys. That is why I do not have any good feeling for Lobo (but admire his sense of humor ;) )

but going back to business . with this naked body new hair/fur is must have;) gogo NL we want some hairs.

Ah, forgot that about Lobo

Regarding Hair/Fur...is this based on the "Pirate!" article? Has it been verified by NextLimit ?
( just curious...doubt it will help me in my ZBrush->Maxwell workflow, but it will be fun to see what you 3dsmax,Maya etc users can do with it  )

As far as I know nothing has been confirmed by Next Limit -- but that is not the way they do things anyway... it's probably just wishful thinking on my part that we'll be able to do this in Studio.

The logical argument for being able to do it in Studio would be to standardize the tool so that the various implementations of hair/fur in any given software package didn't come into play too much when a user switches from one to another... well, that and it would be cool for people like Lars and myself who use the ZBrush model in Studio with no intermediate package :D

Hey guys, don't forget Lobo loves his space dolphins -- any guy who loves dolphins can't be all bad... can he? I never saw Dexter, but I heard it was a really good show...

I've been digging through some old ZBrush stuff I did a few years ago today -- it's amazing how little I understood... I'm amazed I ever got anything to work at all back then

Best,
Jason.

He looks a little bruised in chest and abdomen.

Personally, I'd leave him the way he is and give him a big hairy bush to cover up that ill sculpted camel toe...... And a killer mullet to go with it..... And then I'd name her Pat.
