Still need to fix some things, like the floor reflectance and some texture mapping issues (like on the doors). Enough for now to show the client to review the design. C&C welcome. JoeImage

Yes, I let it render overnight to SL20.

The brick /stones need a little love(bricks are too light / stone needs bump), ..but if you did nothing more than just put a good specular on that floor --- that would really help to gain some visual dynamics.

The wide angle is a little strong too, ... when circular stuff becomes egg-shaped... maybe too much.. ?
I know you need to get it all in the shot, ... then do what you gotta do ... I myself am not beyond putting a hole in a wall (or even removing a wall altogether) to get a shot without having to use a 20mm lens. Know what I mean ? :)

there is one thing which is bothering me about this image and I think it must be the plaster walls. Do they have any texture/bump? And isn't the roughness a bit too low?

I reduced the amount of light on the brick and stone hearth/fireplace...the light is coming from outside so is tricky to balance out. I agree about the wide angle but gotta get in as much as possible to show the client...already spent too much time on this so am not up to resetting the "stage". btw, it's 16mm

In response to your comment, I took the walls and meshed them with very slight random displacement...not sure you can even see that it's not an even wall. I also increased the bump. Image

You must really like "Where is Waldo?"...good catch anyway, those are strips of the wall left over when I did the boolean for the doors which ended up sitting just a tad above the floor level. I just cleaned it up in the model and Photoshopped it out of the image  Besides that, what do you think of it considering I'm a novice at CG?

Overall it's looking pretty good. I do think that any stonework shown in a render needs displacement. Bump is just not enough.
Also, in this render, I'd like to see the interior lit more with natural light from the exterior. I know it costs a lot in terms of render time, but it would make a big difference. The interior lights look way too bright for a daylight scene.
Also, the scene is a little lacking in details. Fill up those shelves, add some furniture, put some fireplace accessories around the fireplace, add window treatments, etc.

Keep up the good work!

good start.. it has potential... but yes please add a floor, furniture.. fire.. 8)

So, is this a known issue?
