Hi humans

It been ages since i modeled, textured and rendered something of my own besides silly materials, so now i thought i should start easy with something i personally like and it's these old carpenter tools which are worn and well used. Why not a new shiny tool you might wonder.. it's because these old tools have much more character and feel than new one's have. This wip will show you my entire process from scratch to finished piece, hope you enjoy the ride.. :)

This is the reference photo i found online which i base my wip on.

I'll be back soon with my first updates.. stay tuned

Thanks Dan :) it should be a fun and quick project to do if all goes as planned. The hunt is progressing but still no 'catch' :/ hopefully something will come along soon or i'm toast..

Bubba: Hehe, sorry for the long delay but i lost internet a few hours tonight and were unable to post my stuff. Now i hope it'll work better..

Here are my first updates, still only modeling the thingy in Modo. Working on adding parts and details, adjusting proporttions constantly so it all fits together nicely. At the moment it's proportions are not quite correct yet. Feel free to come with tips and suggestions on this wip.

The logo.. hm, i don't know. Haven't planned that far ahead yet, but looking at it now most likely i'll be displacing it so i don't have to model myself to death. :) btw, i found some other useful references and because of those i'm gonna have to rebuild a few things to make this model accurate and realistic. I want it to if possible be fully functional like the real thing.

Adding more details to the model such as the springplane below the cuttingblade on the front and the main adjusterscrew on the back of the tool. Highlighted meshes in the first screenshot shows what i've done in this update. And the closeup of the adjusterscrew shows more detail.

Highlighted models have been added.

Closeup of adjusterscrew parts, this area is not yet complete. More work will be done to it asap.

Teabag: Thanks :) modeling detailed stuff is always fun, i love it! there's more to come.. keep your eyes open.

djflod: Thank you! :) hehe yes 401 will be a killer release, Maxwell 2.0 ..don't know about that, dare not to even dream about it.

It's now late at night, almost 2am when i post this update (yawn) ..been working on this update all afternoon and night on this. I know it may not look like much but everything has to connect and fit well in with the rest and it's a bit of a pain to get it correct. It takes time..

Highlighted parts are new models.

Closeup shot of the entire adjusterscrew area, this still needs some more work and finetuning which i'll do tomorrow.
