Ok, it's time to practice with interiors. Multilight is an amazing feature but dealing with materials in interiors is far more challenging than doing it in the exteriors. The seats should appear as covered with brocade, but i cannot see anithing of the pattern i set on them. Now i have 3 options:
-1 waiting until SL 20 (1 week of calculation...)
-2 trashing my computer
-3 waiting for NL to do the miracle (absolute quality and blazing speed)
I think i'll go for the 4th: setting the scene better

A question for you pros: why is the benchmark almost size-indipendent? (1600x900 bench 10.35; 800x450 bench 10.70). How can i predict then when i'll reach my target SL?

The first thing I see is that everything has a brown color, bright or dark, everything is sort of brown!
I would prefer to see some other colors in the scene too...

Also, the lighting will be more interesting if you add some spot lights.

Great start, you've set yourself a tough one!

The comment I would like to make is about your background...

Presumably you wish people to admire all the detail of your tables and chairs, however the very bright fretted shutters in the background naturally draw our eyes.

This makes it difficult to concentrate on the middle and foreground... Which is a shame, with all the effort you have put in there. Maybe you could reduce the brightness of them?

I guess that adding a real foreground (maybe a fill colder light from behind the camera?) will receive both your comments!
The problem with the background is that is pretty hard for me to set an hdr that reducing intensity would not lose brightness...but you are absolutely right, acquiesse.

Just keep it going, I think you can do some really nice renders of this scene!

Great Scene!!! I love the background but agree with the others. You could also try and play with the DOF and focus on the details in the front. One good thing about virtual photography is that you are not limited by the quality of the lens (don't have to have expensive lenses) and adjust for example the DOF just like you want it even in low ligth conditions...

very nice, compliments for this difficult scene! the only thing i was wondering about are the bottles in the back illuminated display - they look like a texture, not like bottles with a geometry, not sure if they should?

@Vodka: It is a normal material (in this case oiled wood) with a layer for the emitter, that in this case is an hdr built from within photoshop

@Groetke: They actually are 3d, but since the scene was already too heavy i did not built the internal surface, so that the clients are going to drink a delicious glass of...glass!

I actually think that the atmosphere is quite realistic. There is great warmth and intimacy to the scene.

some DOF and perhaps a "flash" emitter at the camera would give you some more definition.

Here's an update...i love multilight.
Changed point of view and tuned the overall mood (the client allowed me to remove those flame-shaped lamps....brrrr!)
A little noise reduction in photoshop, waiting for the client to choose between the 12 lightsettingss before i start to play with photoshop.
