New things at the bottom of this post.

Hi there,

I'm at the forum since ver. alpha (really enjoy it :D ) but this is the first time I decided to start my own WIP thread.
This is a mansion project (Baltic Sea coast, Poland) I'm involved with and thought it is worth some decent presentation.
Here is a clay render for a start. Made in ArchiCAD. There is still a lot of modeling work to do but feel free to comment anything, since I hope to learn something from this thread.

update on 19 Feb.

There was some major change in the project. Had to remodel whole section over garage. I decided also to drop the native ArchiCAD trees and put some from ONYXtrees, there are still missing roof tiles which I'm not yet sure either to model or use texture. More to come.

Been extremely busy lately and had to hold things on but still manage to run some material test over night. Hope you like them.

update on 3 March
SL 14 in 18h on Dell PrecisionM70

Finally, I found some time to work with this scene. This one was lit with HDR only, the final shot will be rather worm and sunny. Still a lot of work to do with some detail modeling and materials - especially foliage, and I know pool water is a disaster  but still let me know what do you think so far. BTW I experience some black faces, try to revers/recalculate normals but with no luck.

Some sunlight test.

Thanks guys for your kind comments.
I cannot take all the credtis since my contribution into design was rather insignificant. I'm just helping to sell the idea to customers and local authorities.

I'm going to cook some update over night so stay tuned.

are the shrubs native to Poland? they look rather exotic :)

a mansion indeed, i think my house might be able to fit in the garage.

Hi Pawel,

I'm using Archicad too. Did you render this scene straight from Archicad using the plugin or export as MXS first?

What libraries are you using?

Looks good so far.

TIA

This is some excellent modeling - can't wait to see it texturized!

Hehe, in general the foliage here is something between customer mediterranean taste and my library resources. Not a great combination, I know :)

Thanks,
This one was exported as 3ds into studio, but I've got great results with some other project using plug-in as well.
The two reason I use studio is when I need to mess with projectors, because ArchiCAD does not respect UV coordinates in many imported objects (like trees) so studio is the only option, and when I plan to use lots of cars, ppl, trees.
BTW, I use native AC 9.0 libraries and all I can find here:

I use AC 9 and AC 10, and think AC is a really good match for Maxwell. I had a couple of questions about the modeling which you can take offline if you wish. How are you modeling the roof edge trims and the ridge cap?

Have you tried rendering with sun to get some shadows? That might emphasize the articulation of your building surfaces better. Is the interior modelled in as much detail? Would love to see some interior shots.

Roof edge trims are modeled with ArchiForma 2, plug-in for AC, as same as most of the facade details. Ridge cap are AC's library object (from roof accessories library).
The final scene will be lit with direct sunlight as you expect, but I want to work out materials first, and for that HDR works just better.
I would love to make interiors as well but there was no such request so maybe later, as a personal project.

Cheers
