Hi All!

This my first WIP thread in this forum.

This is the image i've used as target:

My render looks like this at the moment (40min rendering):

Image

Im playing around some with the dof, using a pretty small fStop, so the Dof is probably not perfect :)

I'm playing around some with bumpmapping, I'm totally new to Maxwell and especially the material editor.

Is there any tutorial out there that explains how to attach a bump map to a floor for example, to get a scratchy, worn look?

I also got a question about lightning...
This scene contains of 17, 10x10x10cm emitter-boxes in the roof.

Image

I've added an emitter to the boxes, but to get a realistic balance between the lights in the roof and the sunlight, I have to put up the efficacy to 95% and the watts to 1000, this feels rather unrealistic than realistic, what have I done wrong?

Check the scale. I notice by the DOF that the scale is not ok; it looks tiny. Probably your problem with lights is due to that too.

The Fstop is set to 1.4 so the dof is probably correct, and the scale seems correct, the model is created in Meters, and what I can see when I move around the camera it's correct..

Nice start :)

About watts/efficacy, take a look at the latest newsletter, there are some tips about lighting. Also it would be a good idea to look at the manual about material settings and how the material editor works.

If you're using Studio, you can check in the bottom right of the viewport, the current grid scale (distance between the thick lines) That should tell you if your model is the correct size. Just check an element in your scene and see if it fits correctly inside a grid square.

Mihai, thanks for the tip! *printing*

About the scale, im pretty shure its correct, the grid says 0.25m
