Maximus 3D... Yes, I created a small plane around 15mmx15mm, gave it an emitter material and placed it directly above the camera.

The environment is 4am 01/07/05 in Madrid.

I have no idea whether the Emitter is anywhere near close to a camera flash, but it creates a nice effect none the less.

Ahh yes :) i thought so since the location of your shadows seem to be pretty much straight behind the objects. Try to offset your flashlight to the right side of the camera so you avoid the shadows directly behind your objects look. And then you can add a low wattage fill light at the opposite side of your camera flash to soften up the light a bit more :)
