I tried this scene with the beta awhile back and have revisited it with V1.1

Here is a view with a different faucet [Aug. 13, 2006].

This is a remodel I have planned for our kitchen.

The wood stove came from turbosquid. I Googled for reference images for our Garrison and there it was. Great LWO model. I couldn't believe it - the detail is amazing. I ran it through Rhino and imported a 3ds into max. Anyway, I'm off to give the modeler a good rating as soon as I'm done here. FWIW, I modeled everything else.

I have other views to render, which I'll share later. This is a very small version before I changed some things:

Here is a slightly different view:

Here is the project proposal and a very early render (by another engine):

Well, my husband is rather tall. Aside from that, we're normal size. :?

This is the same bar stool:

Great attention to details... cool render.. I like it.... now the other question is.... not too dark...,? I mean for a kitchen...?

I fell these suspended lamps are going to be a dust trap... am I right..?

There is no direct sunlight into the kitchen. That is why I have planned so much task lighting. It's not exactly a cave though. We get lots of borrowed light from adjacent spaces.

Yes, they are. And they also collect grease from cooking. The glass needs a good cleaning about once a week. They give a fabulous light though, and I think they are holding up rather well design-wise, so we're keeping them.

Vodka79 wrote:Hi, i see you included a "one bounce" thingy on the chair you rendered in 45 mins. Is there a difference in how many bounces? How many bounces did you include for the kitchen?
The red bar stool was rendered with alpha. At that time, you could control bounces. More bounces (say, above 10) usually meant a longer render time. Too few bounces would resolve noise quicker, but you could lose ... fidelity (don't know how else to put it). I had wanted to see what happened with 1 bounce. Well, there you go.

There is still bounce control for the render preview in Studio and the mxed preview.

Thanks Stuart. :)

The upper cabinet doors will be a resin panel product I purchased from the 3-form Reclaim Center. It will actually have aluminum trim around each panel and some sort of hardware pull. Here is a sample photo from 3-form.com:

soft, warm, elegant space Frances! I like it. Lighting is very complimentary.

Now be realistic and throw a 19inch tv in the corner! I mean with 3 men in the house I think it's unavoidable

Nice Job!

Thanks guys. :)

Luis, my DH will have a great view of a nice big flat screen TV while he's cooking. I've got that space all ready and waiting (for the prices to come down). 8)

Looks rather well… it has a nice feel to it. :)

One question… how do the recessed lights work under the cabinets…do they take up much room on the inside?

I've added another view because I changed out the faucet. That sprayer looks like an alien that landed and it's up to no good...

I notice a big difference in the wall color between using skydome and physical sky. I have found that using skydome with sunlight resolves noise much more quickly. The previous render (with the chair) was done with Physical Sky/Sun and the color is much more accurate, but that render cooked for over 50 hours and there is still significant noise on the walls and ceiling (that is out of direct light). The current render cooked for 10 hours and is looking pretty good, except for the wall color, which is too mauvey because of the blue tint to the skydome.

I've been looking at low-profile, low-voltage lights that can be either surface-mounted or recessed.
