fine model. I really like it and I like the fact that you use Cinema. :)

Yes! But I want to know how you do it in Cinema. Extraordinary modeling. Love it.

rochr, how well does cinema handle such a large poly/face count? is it sluggish when you have everything visible? i've been contemplating another app besides max for large scene management, so curious to know how well cinema performs in this case... love the shot with the lantern posts by the way!

According to my c4d experience this scene should cause no problems.

With large scenes Cinema can get really slow to display but it takes a while to get there (if you don't use 500k trees in large scenes).

Agreed.
Considering i personally don´t run a monster machine (single quad, 4 GB ram, 512 mb GPU) i find Cinema to handle large polycounts well.
From what i can tell heavy use of multireplicated hypernurbs objects can be a pain and a very high amount of booleans can slow things down pretty good, but most often it´s still on a workable level.

Regarding this scene it´s just above 1.6 mil polys(2,7 if baked) so far, and i only notice a slight lag when the Evermotion trees are in the view.

I just did a quick test with one of my larger test scenes which is about 6.5 mil polys and i could move around with relative ease.
The only issue i´m experiencing there is that all the models become boxes during movement and there´s a 2 second freeze when they become visible, but that´s probably something more ram and a better GPU can fix.
Although precalculation with the Maxwell plug is somewhat slow... :)

fantastic...I'm not sure whether to be really inspired or discouraged...it was very difficult to tell the render from the actual image. You obviously have a VERY good eye for these things....bravo!

Alright.
Been busy with some other stuff lately, so it´s time to continue with this build.

The latest piece is the smaller tower closest to the cam which is one of the end pieces of the structure.
Next in line is the small square between these buildings.
