Just curious, do you like modeling in Max?
Other than Autocad, Max is the only modeling software I know how to use, so I can't really compare it with anything. But yeah, I like it.

Thanks Aaron, Herve and JorisMX

Herve, don't report me to the man, won't happen again.
That wood texture is just some old thing I found online. I looked for Arroway, but the wood I saw from them are all floor planks.

Rusty, no more drive-thru window. I moved to a nice cubicle with a view, finally.

just a thought, if you had a more vertical art piece that dropped down below the glass panel it would create a better sense of depth there.
Whose idea is it to add a wood baseboard to the stone wall? Gives the stone the impression of the stone being pasted on.
Nice wood and glass textures and lighting.

Bubbaloo wrote:Thanks for the ideas, Joe! Luckily, I'm not the decision maker, I'm just the monkey. The architect and interior designer can fight over the details...
Brian, what's your workflow? Do you get blueprints from the architect, does the interior designer give you sketches that you have to interpret, just curious.

For this project I got Autocad drawings for the existing building which I roughly blocked out in Max, then I work from sketches from the architect and material samples from the interior designer.

That interior design reminds me those door shops, where they have all those doors all over the place. Something like this:
http://dpdoor.com/images/shop/shop-entry-doors-7277.jpg
And those metal frames make it look like security door shop.
I'm really sorry to say that, but I just can't get rid of that feeling while looking at that design.
And yes, that sandstone was a really bad idea

As for your part of the job Bubbaloo, it's looking really good so far.
And I'm really impressed with the speed (both of you, and your render engine  )

Thanks for the crits. I agree completely. So do our designers and architects. The client's in-house designer has a heavy hand in this project unfortunately. Frustration aplenty. All I can do is try to make it look as good as I can with my renderings.
Edit:
As for your part of the job Bubbaloo, it's looking really good so far.
Thanks!

he he I was going to say the design looks like a European Social Security office in late 70's... beige and brown tones.. tell them to add some orange, and we're back to Burger King early 80's..... hihi... what about painting the wall stones in gold... that'd be hype somehow.. 8) :D

Brain.. you work too fast..and too good for that... well.. Donor's alley..

Sometimes when I look at some interior designs done today... it makes me feel young again... and that's a positive feeling... :D
