Thanks guys.

Well, it´s far from perfect, but it´s as close as i can get with the reference shots at hand. All of the photos are either distant shots, where it´s almost impossible to make out the details, or shots taken from the ground level and upwards.
If it weren´t for this one, http://jigsaw.w3.org/Bert/Provence/0004 ... rance.html , and a few images taken from the domes showing small pieces, i wouldn´t even have the slightest idea what the roofing would look like. :)

And i still need to find a few better ones showing the side structures, so any tips are more than welcomed. :)

With, actually. I changed my mind shortly after Tom mentioned it. :)

About 650000 polys for the models so far.

Wow, not even close to a million polygons yet? That's some nice optimization.

Time for some more images.

I´ve finished up the windows on the main dome, and also did some minor fine tuning such as fixing the plate-shaped ornaments and replaced the head with a low poly one.

I´ve also started out with the base connecting the dome with the rest of the building. This one is one of the areas that are virtually "grey". I only have Max´s top view and tiny fragments here and there on a few photos of what this part looks like, so i´ve taken the liberty to practice some artistic freedom to fill in the blanks. :)
The stairs part is connecting the smaller domes and will not be that visible, but i still want to get it as close as possible.

I would like to see an animation! :D ...a single final rendered image sounds a few for this project

Incredible

Thanks guys.

An animation is probably out(even though a short flyby would be cool), but one render i´ld like to do is the basilica slightly from above.
Mainly because i haven´t seen a shot like that. :)
