Ugh, those HDRI reflections are just killing your model. Try a nice studio render setup (seeing as you have the car in a studio background  ). It just looks weird when you're reflecting an industrial background, but the car is sitting in a studio.

Here's a link to one of the better car modelling forums. If you scan through the gallery, you'll see 90% of them have that sexy studio render look. It's simply the best way to showcase cars. The ones that do use HDRI's are composited against the associated background which looks correct.

Hi Dilbert, you are absolutely right!! I will make a nice studio render in a few days using some nice softboxes.
I was actually looking around on the forum for some nice hdr (softbox)textures, I know that they have been posted some where here about a year ago, but I couldn't find them...
that's a cool one 8)

You are welcome Curt.
But if i were you, i would not use those LDR file to render your car. The thread point by djflod is much more usefull and will give you better result. So i suggest you to build different mxi object and place them in your studio scene at your convenience in order to obtain perfect lighting relfection on the car.

By the way, here is a message for all maxwell users: if someone could share some HD photo of a softbox, umbrella... with different exposure, we could build a mxi object library for all maxwell user. It will be very useful.

Here are mine, quality is not really good but this is what i use for most of my rendering. So if someone can be kind enough to share some better photo of his own photographic studio material, it will very appreciated. Personnally i think it is as important as good mxm so maybe a new material category has to be added to the mxm library website in order to share the mxi object (large file size).

Thanks for posting the images of the umbrella and softbox. In a previous thread you showed your setup

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... c&start=15

Sorry to be obtuse (since I started that last thread :))
Here is how I think you use those .mxi images as emitters. Can you correct me if I am wrong?

* Copy umbrella image and save as .bmp
* Open Maxwell Render and open the umbrella image
* Save as .mxi
* Go to my scene in Studio or Rhino
* Create vertical planes where I wish to have my emitters
* Create a new emitter and add .mxi image as a texture

Is this the correct way or am I missing something? :)

Thanks so much!!!
