You're right - Ill fix that, thanks :) .. You know that you can stare at something that you go blind with it :)

It looks a lot better... now I don't play violins but have been around them my whole life (my dad collects, builds and restore violins) but the edge you have is much too severe. The real violins have a slightly raised edge and a bit of perfeling (grooves, inlayed decorative wood) just inside the slightly bumped edge. Maybe if you took at some more reference photos or got to hold a violin for a bit you would see the subtlety. Other than that looking really good!!

Thanks.. Been trying to get hold of a real violin, but without luck so far .. Still trying tho :) However as this is just a "as time permits and for the fun of it project" I didnt go buy a violin.

So what you are saying is that I should lower the edge ...

I believe this is more correct with the edge:

Update:
- The Edge of the violin boy has been corrected
- Texture on the body changed to reflect the changes of the body
- Added the colored ends on the strings at the tail piece
- Added some of the things that are used to tighten the strings inside the tailpiece. (this is a particular hard part, since theres very few images on the net of this, and those there are, are very different - so without an actual violin its hard to get this part correct.)
- Added the small cuts in the f hole..

Less DOF makes it more believable from this angle too.

Overall nice improvement

WAY better- that looks perfect! The only thing you have to do now is add some Rosin dust underneath the strings around the 'F' holes! :)
Really nice improvement

Thanks - it means a lot to me.
Actually I got some really nice closeups from someone, and it had that dust you are talking about - it was very well lit from the flash of his camera and I was planning to add that and some microscratches here and there. I do not want it to look extremely used, as I like the "used but new" look it has right now, so not going to over do the dust and scratches.

I havn't yet settled on the scene for it, but it is not going to be lying on that grey plane.. Ideas are welcome :)

Finally I got a spare moment, so I could update the Violin a bit .. Nothing much, yet its still an update..

Refined the body, especially around the f holes.

Started on making some rosin dust under the strings.

Another update,

I have started modeling the bow, it still needs a few pieces and then some texture adjustments..
