Thanks, Magnus.

I updated my material:

Here is my current state:

Currently, I use only one SSS-layer with almost Mihai's recommended values and 3 BFDS-Layer with different weight and attenuation (ranging from nm to mm when you have a model with real human dimensions). One BFDS is for the subdermal tissue, one for the epidermis and one for the stratum corneum, containing the slight gloss-effects.

I think this is still a bit too waxy and the speculars (oil layer) is a bit more prominent than it should.

I still try some different settings, mostly it's only a matter of slight value-changes to come closer to the reality, but I also think the base setup is right.
here is a 9h rendering with different lightings:

It's really funny how easy skin can be optained with maxwell-material compared to other big render apps.
I spend more than 2 years trying hundreds (if not more) of skin-setups with Vray , AR, FR2 (all renderer for Cinema 4D) with almost not bad results, but not as good as with Maxwell that took less than 4 days to come to these results.
When I'm satisfied with the final setup (and of coarse have the time for it), I can make a tutorial with the settings. As the results are dependend on the textures and the lights used and these examples-textures and the mesh is not my property, a material for the mxm-database is not so usefull.

Tom, if I see right, you're a member of the NL-crew ?
Is there already a release-date for Maxwell 2 ?
More render-speed would make the devellopment more effective. If Version 2 is available in the next weeks, I would wait with more time-extensive tests until it is out.

Improvement! Try more specular roughness and also less waxiness because it has no skull inside.

Overworked the whole shader, reduced waxiness, changed SSS-settings, created new control-maps for translucency etc.
Still need something to fix, but I think that state is not bad at all.

Extraordinary and exciting work!!! Improvements are clearly visible everyday. That thing still missing could be the lack of better specular map for the oil layer, somehow less prominent and more chaotic. IMHO, it just directly looks like plastic due to that...

Thanks Tom.
Your constructive crits did help a lot.
I've been already playing with the gloss-map, but skipped it for now as it was too prominent.
But I will try again in the next days.
Keep watching for updates.

OK, I tried now douzends of different settings.
This is obviously the limit that I can currently archieve in Maxwell without a special programed fastskin-shader:

Very good, especially with the postwork. It's gonna be tricky to figure out the remaining detail adjustments.

Last setup is almost perfect. maybe just a little bit too grainy on the fronthead...i would expect to see a more tighten skin there, but finding such minimal problems means you already nailed the right setup
(oh, and this does not mean i would have been able to reach even a fake, rough approximation of your result!)
