Very good. Something about the scale still looks off, but you nailed the water, and that's the hard part.

I think the water needs to be more visible towards the horizon. Right now it's like there's the edge of the world in the background.

Louis v a: Your sea looks much better now. If you wish to disguise the horizon you could try some mist - works well if you use a depth map and composite in a paint program.

impressive results Louis!

the water looks very real to me.

but like Adrian noted, the scale might be wrong.

imo it has some miniature look to it, a bit like a special effects setup.

Thanks guys!

Tomorrow I hope to spent some time to edit the horizon. The method of Becco_UK sounds interesting.
I also hope to make a version with some smaller waves.

d7mcfc, I uploaded the material to the mxm gallery. Feel free to look at it, and if you like, improve it.

I made 2 mxm versions:
a version for the simbal (doesn't look very good)
another version with the scales like in this picture

Hi,

Here 2 pictures where I tried to improve the rough sea.

In the upper picture I reduced the size of the main waves 4 times. Further did I enlarge the sea surface with 2 km. The render time increased a lot, but the result is in my opinion better than it was.

In the lower picture in first instance tried to add fog. Unfortunately my Photoshop skills aren't good enough to get a good result. Now I made a depth map and tried to use it in combination with lens blur.

Very nice progress !! There is indeed a little scale issue but it might come from boat model and texture.. the water is perfect !

I think your horizon is too close.

You need bigger surface. Like this:

Hi JesperW,

Thanks for you´re reaction and nice visual.
I´m not sure that the horizon of the picture is to close. The camera in the picture I placed has a totally different angle and height. Here´s a photo of a situation that comes closer to the situation (my cam is a little lower).
