So how are you making the edges bevelled/chamferred?

Are you using mesh/turbo smooth ontop of square edges made the usual way, or are you actually modelling in the smooth edges as you go?

Just curious on the best workflow in Max9 for this kind of thing now.

Very nice so far btw :D

Thanks! I chamfer edges as I go, then select the polygons and apply auto smooth. I don't usually use turbosmooth on these type of projects because the scene can get very large very quickly. If there are surfaces that need to be unsmooth/noisy I just do that with the material.

Bird's Eye View:

By the way, this render achieved the highest benchmark I've seen yet: 2017! The scene has 100,000+ poly's and is lit with hdri. (And only 3 basic materials so far.)

The hdr jacks it up , plus it being an exterior all make for the crazy BM.
I'm guessing it took like 60 seconds to get clear ??

Looking really good. My coworker says the lighting on the truck adds "warmth" to the scene.

Where did you get your vehicles from? They look pretty good. High poly?

Also your curbs and pretty nice. Did you extrude a profile along a path? If so is the path in the same plane or does it have some elevation to it? And if it has elevation, how did you go about making the parking lot? :D

Thanks!
The Trucks were purchased on Turbosquid, they are high poly and very detailed! The cars are Dosch.
Yes, curbs are splines I imported from autocad then swept with a curb profile. The height of the dock area is 4' below finish floor, so yes, that was a pain! Basically I just tried to keep the grade changes in easy locations, like a straight piece of road.

looking good. i assume you re textured all your dosch cars with maxwell materials? how long did it take...seeing those makes me want to start on the ones i have sitting around.
Will there be a Maxwell Render 6 ?
