The inset boxes at the front of the explosives truck generated a bit of thinking time. The 3d version of those boxes are made from polygons with infinite thinness. This is not much use when it comes to making the real part from 2mm acrylic and 1mm plastic. My intepretation of photographs and dvd screen grab is that there are inward 'stepped' edges around each box. There are also minor differences between my 3d and the real models that needed to be reconciled.

After seeing another image I've revised the 3d sign of the Explosives Truck. A 1mm thick sign is framed by 1.5mm thin section angle. This can be replictated in plastic for the real model. The lettering is a bit rough and ready at present but when that gets tidied up the sign can be printed onto some photo paper and attached to the plastic sign part.

I seached for more than a year for old panel lights that were used as rear lights for the real Explosives Truck model. The closest I've found to date recently arrived from the USA. I will use some clear red paint, built up in thin layers to tint them.

That's all for now.

So, is this a known issue?
