Better asphalt, HDR background only, lighting is physical sky with sun.
Modified materials for steel structure and glass and cabins.

Holger : the soft edge plug-in crashes (super hard) Rhino 5 every time...
I'll chamfer when I'm in chamfering mood, not like right now.

Try the Cologne Christmas ski with a late afternoon time, looks great.
Cologne ? Christmas ? Ski ?
My project is in Guyana ! :)

I'll check out those sky setups; didn't even know there was a repository for that.

Thanks Ricardo !

Getting better, no?

This is in my experience typically not the plugin's fault. It's Rhino: Check your boxes for composite surfaces.
They always cause rubbish-meshes too, so its worth getting rid of those.

Yep. But still not sure how I could populate the background at horizon level with something not too distracting.
Also, I can't wait to have the SSSSS ! Membranes are the perfect example of things you can not represent accurately otherwise.
I've got a modeling question for you, but I'll send you an E-mail since this is not Maxwell related.

Holger, Rhino 5 vanishes as soon as I try to install the plug-in !!!
Cold hard instant crash... Never seen a Rhino wiped out so fast

That's weird - I did not see this happening with V5.

Bubbaloo wrote:I agree it looks better with motion blur. You really need to find a bigger asphalt texture that doesn't tile so noticeably. Also, have you experimented with late evening sunset type skies for extra color at the horizon?
yes, yes, and YES! not only is it going to help out with your background, it's going to help out with your lighting. it still baffles me why people place the sun directly overhead. you would hardly ever see a photographer shooting during the middle of the day.... usually early morning, or early evening for more attractive quality of light, dramatic shadows, and as bubba pointed out, richer sky color if its part of his or her subject...

Have you taken the model into Maxwell Studio? or have you just been rendering through the Rhino plugin? I would suggest playing with it in studio so you can see what your environment is doing as you make changes to your sky.... If you ask me, the best overall approach for something like this would be to composite into existing photo...

Hi Rusteberg,

The dilemma is as follows : if I take a morning or evening sun, the shadow of the membrane will be far from the stuff it is supposed to cover.
I know it's like that in reality, but I want to give the client the impression that this expensive handkerchief he is buying is somewhat usefull.

F*** Practical! if you want to be practical, become an engineer or work in Autocad all day... make the mother F****** look good. (don't get offended, i mean that in the best possible way)

Still need to fix that sidewalk texture. It's still noticeably tiling a lot. Then, you could add some imperfections to the sidewalk and asphalt in post. Create a layer, use a black, rough brush and then adjust layer opacity to make the marks subtle. Repeat as necessary. (Useful for any surface that you don't have time to create proper unwrapped uv's / textures.)
