cool, the super dimensional fortress 1

the modeling is great, though the materials are a bit "plasticy" and doesn't give the same material sense (or scale) as the original animation--totally fixable

I knew the series as Robotech…been wanting to do some of the other mechs (Valkyrie, Cyclone, hover tank) just haven't had the time lately

So I am playing with some lights and definitely reworked the textures.

To do:

* Work some more on the plating and add some wear and tear!
* I want to think about a good composition, so I am toying with some ideas about how to present the model

Everything but the zoom blur was done in Maxwell! :D

Thanks for looking!

Blue lasers, that's like a dream come true. They really look armor piercingly intense on my screen. Great to see more unusual uses of Maxwell.

Thanks everyone! I also like this last render a lot.

Now I am fighting for it not to look like a toy/scale model! I believe that this can be achieved through texturing and more detailing. Specially I think this last shot, the camera angle is just right.

Also, I may be making an animation of it soon. :D

Thanks for the reply Bubbaloo, I actually am putting building, cranes and other items that can point to the size.

I was thinking that maybe I should put a composition of actual people there. But I will probably do that last.

the falloff of the light sources will also be an indicator of scale

it is the biggest problem when lighting miniatures

IMHO, if the light falloff covers too much distance it will always feel miniature no matter how many details and other references there may be

So, is this a known issue?
