I've got 16 of these to do and after any criticism the many experts can offer, please!!

The model was exported direct to render from SketchUp and uses HDRI for lighting and reflections. A bit more sky and photo colour filter was added in PS.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Cheers, Richard

That looks really GREAT Richard!

The only thing I would change is, dim the light in the house a bit and try to make the border of the gravel and grass a bit irregular, it's much to sharp now.

Thanks mate! I make and try a weight map with fringed edges to apply to the front yard area. Though then a bit of work to create an MXM to cover the materials as I use a fair few layers in the grass (probably don't need so many!).

WHich brings to point a wsih list item!! Would be good if we could create an mxm with weight maps that the BSDF layers can just be made with a link to another MXM!! Or can we do that already some how? Hmmm?

Looks good. I agree on the grass border thing. You got 16 to do, you say? Damn, that's a lot of work. I sure hope you got a lot of cores ... :p

Where'd you buy them plants? Those clips or 3d?

Thanks stinkie!!

Mate the little grass plants are form KwistenBiebel's podium plant collection
(check PushPullBar) and the shrubs I modelled a irregular surface with SU's sandbox tools then applied a clipmap! Crap really but I'm going to keep playing with that techniques some more!

Oh, there Kwisten's? Got 'em. He's done us all a really big favor with those. :D

Post some more as you go, will ya? Always nice to see good SU stuff.

Maybe if you make the grass displaced you can just make the gravel plane a bit bigger so it goes a bit over the grass plane and shows through the displaced grass.

Yeah I thought about displacing the grass and in fact the roof tiles but any tests I've done with displacement just blow rendering times to billy oh! and as I said 16 to do so rendering times are a bit critical!

Hey nice render... I would say that maybe the bricks are a bit flat.. Specially the ones that have the groves painted on this wall in front of the house. Actually I didn't quite understood the function of this wall besides obstructing the view on the first floor.

Everything on the image seems to be a bit yellow. (late afternoon?) I kind of miss the soft shadows actually any shadow on the ground and grass. (but that's just me)

Nice work overall.. I really like the reflections on the windows of the second floor.. I wish the tone of the greens on the ground looked more like those trees from the reflections on those windows.

So, is this a known issue?
